Dialogue

Dialogue is an important part of movies and creates the most important scenes for plot development. However, most dialogue scenes are not as memorable as action scenes. For this reason I decided to limit the amount of dialogue included in my opening as possible.

My intention for the limited dialogue is that it will open up the space for the audience to be more observant of the actions of the main character.  When there is an absence of dialogue, everything else is important because it becomes more noticeable.  My goal in the opening scene is for the audience to get invested in the main character and how he is just a normal kid until something unexpected happens. The lack of dialogue will allow the audience to notice the surroundings and how he is just living his life in a normal town.

In the beginning of the movie, it is not stressful.  It should be easy to watch with beautiful scenery. Then something shifts when the main character finds the magic glasses.  The absence of dialogue should be more impactful and achieve this goal.
